Bad Cops

Last night we ran into some cops whom we can't say as bad, but certainly not angels to us.

We were late by some two minutes to pick up our car at a parking space with a parking meter, and when we arrived, two cops were already issuing a penalty ticket to us.

Daddy always uses the timing function of his wristwatch to ensure that he won't be late in paying the meter. And I am dead sure that we were late by no more than three minutes.

Daddy asked the cops not to issue the ticket to us. He told them we've got a small kid (that's me) and some very heavy bags (that's my milk powder and stuff) to carry along.

But they said they had been waiting for us for two minutes. They also said sorry as they had already started writing, there's nothing they could do.

Had they been waiting for two minutes, that means they showed up just seconds after the time in our meter expired.

Or they had nothing else meaningful to do but to wait for our meter to expire and then ticket us.

Had Daddy not been feeding the meter all day, he would have accepted the ticket easily. But he had been paying the meter on time the entire afternoon, and the only time he was late, he got busted.

This one is not easy to swallow for him.
